We could not be more excited to officially announce that we are now the owners of the beautiful building pictured above! This space will be Reese’s House, our community center for the city of Millville that will focus on young adults and our youth, but also on our community as a whole.
As you may know, our organization was formed when we lost Maurice “Reese” Lewis to an act of random and senseless gun violence in May of 2018. Our main mission when we started Our Future First was to create a community center to ensure that our youth have a place to go with programming that suits their needs, as determined by them. From that, the idea of Reese’s House came to life and has been one of our main focuses.
Being able to purchase this incredible space and open Reese’s House will not only help our community, but it will quite literally save lives. It has not been an easy path to date and we know that we will continue to be challenged as we get settled and ramp up programming.
We cannot thank each and every one of you, our donors, volunteers, and community members, enough for everything that you have done so far. As we move forward, we will continue to lean on you for help because we know that we need the community to build community.
Now that the building is purchased and solidified, we are inviting our community to learn a little more about our plans for Reese’s House by watching this virtual tour. If the plan sounds as awesome to you as it does to us and our community, please consider becoming a recurring monthly donor by clicking here (go.ourfuturefirst.org/reeseshouse). A donation of $10 or $20 a month goes a long way in helping us plan our work and our finances. It’s a great way to help without breaking the bank. If you can’t do a monthly donation, please consider making a one-time donation of any amount. We are here today because of the generosity of our community and that same support will allow us to be successful in the next steps of the plan.
Thank you for sticking with us this long and for playing an active role in making our city better. Stay tuned for more information regarding volunteering, events, programs, and much more. We can’t wait to build with you!
