We have some incredible news about our endeavors to create Reese’s House!
Over the last few months of 2021, we were blessed to connect with a local South Jersey foundation that wanted to help us make Reese’s House, our youth-focused community center, a possibility. They believed in our mission, our goals, and the need for it in Cumberland County. They loved the idea of addressing food insecurity issues with our potential partnership with Wildflower Vegan Café and they wanted to help! After a few conversations and a presentation to their board of directors, we received some very good news.
The result?! This foundation decided to provide us with a $20,000 annual grant (starting in 2021) for the next 10 years. That is a grand total of $200,000 over the next decade that we plan on specifically using to help us purchase our building (hopefully the one above) to create Reese’s House! Combine this money with another annual grant that we receive, and we have about $30,000 coming in annually which is a great place to be in!
So what’s next in our quest? We have been working with a small local bank to hopefully obtain mortgage funding. This bank will hold a board meeting within the next two weeks to discuss how much they can lend to us. After we receive these results, we can go back to the seller of the building to resume negotiations and hopefully close the deal!
For now, we’re in wait mode a little longer, but you can still help us to make this happen! As we start this new year off on what we hope will be our best year yet, I would like to personally ask you to consider making a donation to Reese’s House. While these grants are a huge help, your donations will help us offset our down payment, initial set-up expenses, and everything else that will inevitably pop up along the way.
